Bromeliads – Growing In Your Garden

Growing In Your Garden

Bromeliads are possibly one of the easiest plants to grow. They do not mind most potting mixes or barks as long as it does not hold too much water.

95% of Bromeliads need a bit of shade or dappled light.

For some Bromeliads, it may be okay to have them in the full sun in the Winter. However, this is not the case for all Bromeliads.

A lot of people think that ALL bromeliads can grow in full sun. However, this is not true. As soon as Summer comes, you may find that you have brown forming on your leaves. Bromeliads can sunburn and not all bromeliads take the full sun all of the time.

Bromeliads can also get sunburnt from the water in the centre of the plant heating up in the sun.

If you would burn being in that position all day, your Bromeliads may also burn.

Most Bromeliads like dappled light. In dappled/filtered light, they are more likely to keep their true colour and shape.
